What SEG Actually Is

Silicone edge graphics are dye-sublimated fabric panels with a thin silicone strip sewn into the perimeter. The strip presses into a channel around the outside of an aluminium frame, pulling the fabric drum-tight.

The result is a seamless, frameless-looking graphic surface with no visible hardware, no glare and no wrinkles. It is why SEG has become the default finish for trade show exhibits, retail environments and corporate interiors.

It is also why tolerance matters more than anything else in the specification.

Why Frame Tolerance Decides Everything

An SEG panel is cut and sewn to a dimension derived from the frame — not the same as the frame. Too large and the fabric sags. Too small and it will not seat, or it tears the silicone out of the channel on installation.

The tolerance window is small, and it differs between systems. A beMatrix frame and an Aluvision frame of nominally the same size do not take the same panel.

We print to your frame's actual specification. Send us the system, the profile and the frame dimensions, and the panel arrives fitting. If you do not know what system you have, send photographs of a frame corner and the channel profile — we can identify most systems from that.

beMatrix, Aluvision and Other Frame Systems

We produce SEG for beMatrix, Aluvision, Orbus, Classic Exhibits and generic aluminium extrusion systems.

If you already own frames, reskinning is the cheapest upgrade available to you. A full set of new dye-sub fabric costs a fraction of a new exhibit, ships flat, and completely changes how the booth reads. Exhibitors who own a frame system and rebuild the whole thing to refresh their look are burning money.

Dye-Sublimation and Why It Matters

Dye-sub bonds the ink into the fibre rather than sitting on top of it. That gives you colour that survives folding, packing and repeated installation without cracking at the creases — which direct-printed fabric does not.

It also means the panel is washable, and it travels folded in a soft case instead of crated. For an exhibitor shipping to five cities a year, that difference shows up directly in drayage weight.

Backlit SEG

Backlit fabric is printed differently. The ink density, the substrate weight and the diffusion characteristics all change, because the panel is being lit from behind rather than in front.

A graphic printed for front lighting and then installed in a lightbox reads blotchy — you see the LEDs through it. We print backlit panels for even diffusion at the light spacing of your specific fixture.

Artwork Requirements

Vector where possible. Raster at 100 to 150 DPI at final output size — SEG is viewed from a distance and higher resolution buys nothing but file size.

Bleed requirements vary by frame system because the silicone seam consumes a defined amount of the panel edge. Send us the frame spec before you build the artwork and we will supply a template. Artwork built without a template is the single most common cause of a reprint.

We colour-manage against Pantone references or supplied proofs. If brand colour is critical, tell us at quote stage rather than after the first panel ships.

Turnaround and Shipping

Standard SEG production runs on a normal schedule. Rush is available in 24 to 48 hours when a show is imminent.

Panels ship folded in soft cases to any US destination, including direct to show sites and advance warehouses. Tell us the venue, the booth number and the target date and we will route it correctly.
